By Molly Yanity ESPN.com What does Shania Twain have to do with snowboarding? Probably nothing other than the fact that up-and-comer Leslee Olson happens to like both very much.
The 20-year-old's passion for snowboarding launched her into the upper echelon of competition after she clinched the 1998 Vans Triple Crown Boardercross title in Breckenridge, Colo., in December. She also wrapped up the runner-up spot in the Super G at the '98 U.S. Open and traveled the globe competing in both alpine and freestyle contests throughout the year. Olson displayed a little of what is to come when she landed a frontside 540 and rodeo flip in a practice run at Breckenridge. The Bend, Ore., native has a soft spot for country music, something that might seem a little out of place at the 1999 Winter X Games in Crested Butte, Colo. "Cowboys are way better looking than snowboarders," Olson insists, however.
Olson will compete in the Boarder X, Big Air and Halfpipe events where, as Alan
Jackson might say, "She's right on the money."
