 Tara Llanes held on for dear life -- and a gold medal.
The cameras caught plenty of carnage Thursday at the X Games, as both the men and women took their runs down the 680-foot Biker X course. Tara Llanes managed to hold on for the win, despite her tire spikes tearing a hole in her race pants. In the men's competition, Steve Peat of England played it safe early, then found an opening and scooted through for the gold medal.
Life is golden in the fast Llanes | Look out, for Peat's sake
