Chat with Maya Moore

Moore finished her career at UConn 150-4, with two national titles.
Welcome to SportsNation! On Friday, we'll have Maya Moore of the WNBA's Minnesota Lynx, as well as a member of the U.S. women's basketball team.
Moore, @MooreMaya, will play in her first Olympic Games this summer, as Team USA will try for its fifth straight Olympic gold medal. In the nine Olympics with women's basketball, Team USA has won six golds, one silver, one bronze and did not participate in the 1980 Olympics due to the U.S. boycott.
Following a WNBA title in her rookie year in 2011, Moore has helped lead Minnesota to a league-best 14-4 record so far this season. She won the 2011 Rookie of the Year and has improved statistically in nearly every category this season.
Send your questions now and join Moore Friday at 11 a.m. ET!

What other Olympic sports are you going to try to watch while in London?
Maya Moore (11:09 AM)
I'm a huge track and field fan. I like tennis as well.
Lil T. (New Jersey)
Maya, how will things be different this time around reuniting with your UCONN team mates and to be coached by Gino?
Maya Moore (11:10 AM)
I think it will be very similar to the world championships. The UConn question is tough, because I don't see it that way. I see it as Team USA and 12 players coming together to play and win gold. I'm excited to play with everyone.
Kris (DC)
Lindsay, what's it like showing around all of these newbie Minnesota residents like Maya?
Lindsay Whalen (11:11 AM)
It's great. We go to the Mall of America. We go to the airport. We go to the Target Center a lot. I think they appreciate what the state has to offer.
tanya (chicago)
Who has been your toughest matchup to guard at your position?
Maya Moore (11:12 AM)
This year?....I'm going to go off of last year, and say Tamika Catchings.
Joey (Minnesota)
Happy friday Maya, Did you ever dream of playig in the olympics? Good luck getting for USA, im your biggest fan
Maya Moore (11:12 AM)
Yeah. We probably dreamed more of the track and field people because they get the most coverage.
Lindsay Whalen (11:13 AM)
I think about Kerri Strug...you know the girl who broke her ankle and landed the jump.
Maya Moore (11:13 AM)
I'm so excited to do it at age 23.
Brad (Gadsden,Alabama)
Maya, Do you have any pre-game rituals?
Maya Moore (11:14 AM)
Make sure I know my scout. Mentally prepare for who we're playing. It's like studying for a test. Nap if I need to. Have a good meal.
kevin (macon ga)
How does this year's Team USA stack up with past US Olympic teams? Could you beat the 1996 team?
Maya Moore (11:16 AM)
I think this team has a chance to be one of the deepest. If we can play well and put together the pieces like we should, from 1-12, it's an amazing group of talent. I think we have the chance to do some really great things with one of the deepest team. We're at a different point in our growth in the league and having female sports be around as pros and in college. We're at a fun point in our stage of growth. There's a lot of talent and athletes. It's fun.
Hoopsfan (Georgia)
Australia has been training together for months as a team for the olympics. Do you think that the USA team has enough time to train together to develop good chemistry going into the olympics?
Maya Moore (11:17 AM)
It's a challenge to find time to train together. That is a disadvantage that we have when it comes to competing at the world level. I think USA Basketball staff and players do a great job of coming together and working together with a short amount of time. It's a challenge that we have but we try to overcome it.
Maya Moore (11:17 AM)
They are well oiled machines by the time we face these teams.
Amy (Boston)
How are you guys feeling heading into your Minnesota title defense this year? Does being a champion give you more confidence this time around?
Maya Moore (11:18 AM)
We feel good. It's a different year, a different feel, so some of the challenges we face this year are different than what we faced last year. We had more injuries in the beginning this year. It's going to be a fight. The league has good teams. The other teams are getting into a good flow. It will be tougher this year.
Craig (Braintree, MA)
Softball Action - How was your first year living in Minnesota? What have you learned about living there that nobody told you about since you first got there?
Maya Moore (11:19 AM)
I learned that it is an underrated area, the Twin Cities. It's really nice in the summer.
Shades (Minneapolis)
You're playing the PF position like it's an old comfortable glove. Has this opened up Reeves eyes so you might be playing the position moore in the future, even when Brunson is healthy again?
Maya Moore (11:21 AM)
Yeah, I've had to hold it down at the four since we've had some unfortuante injuries the past month. I played it some in college so it's not unfamiliar. The same way I'm scoring as a four is very similar to how I score as a three. It's not going to be that big of a difference when I return to the three when we get healthy.
Timothy (NYC)
Maya, what role do you think you will play for Team USA?
Maya Moore (11:22 AM)
My role will be just to use my strengths. Scoring my basketball. Getting rebounds. Getitng out into the passing lanes. Getting momentum for the team. Bringing energy off the bench. Doing the little things off the bench to help my team.
Caleb (Minneapolis)
Will it be difficult to adjust back to the rhythm of the WNBA after the break?
Maya Moore (11:23 AM)
I don't know. This is my first time doing this Olympics thing. We're used to going from season to season. For any sport to go from season to season, it would be us to pick it up. It's not like we're going to another sport. It's still basketball.
Tam (Minnesota)
What player are you most excited to play with in the Olympics?
Maya Moore (11:24 AM)
I would like to meet some of the U.S. track athletes or the gymnasts, because I admire what they can do. Any of the Olympians I would be honored to meet, because they're the best at their sport.
kevin (macon ga)
Your name has been mentioned in MVP discussions. Do you think about things like that during the season?
Maya Moore (11:26 AM)
Not frequently. I do think about my individual performance. I think it's natural to look at other people to keep your competitive juices going at times. I'm definitely locked into what my team needs from me, how I'm doing, within the expectations of the team's goals. My individual goals and accomplishments flow from that.
Maya Moore (11:26 AM)
I always love hearing from you guys, the fans. Keep watching us and we'll continue to make you proud. I hope to connect with you soon.
Maya Moore (11:26 AM)
