Good job on Mike and Mike this morning...did you get into their Circle of Trust?
Bart Scott (1:02 PM)
I hope so. I'll figure out if I get a phone call after the show. If they just lied to me. Treat me as a one night stand.
Steven (NJ)
How do you think the defense will do with the absence of Jenkins?
Bart Scott (1:03 PM)
I think that each guy will have to take on more responsibility. You don't replace him with one person. You take for granted the things that he does. You have to be more attention to detail. You don't have the guy who demands a double team.
Nick (Spokane)
How do you think the Dolphins will fare in the Super Bowl?
Bart Scott (1:03 PM)
I think you should go to Vegas and put all your money on them.
JD (NY)
Hey Bart, at 4-4, and coming off a pair of losses to the Dolphins and the lowly Bills, what motivates you to still talk trash after losing this past Sunday? It must be frustrating continually talking all that trash and then not being able to back it up on gameday. Good luck the rest of the way!
Bart Scott (1:04 PM)
The fact that people still doubt us and the fact that people picked us to be dead last in the division. We still have the opportunity and the door isn't shut on us yet. And fans like yourself continue to motivate me. As an athlete, you like when the deck is stacked against you. At some point we've all been doubted.
Kyle (VA)
How important was it to you that coach Ryan showed up at your door right when free agent signing started?
Bart Scott (1:05 PM)
It showed me that for the first time in my career that I was a priority and that I was the single most important thing to him at that time. He was serious and if someone will show you that kind of committment, you commit to him. Come the dark days, he has your back.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Have you ever been eye gouged?
Bart Scott (1:06 PM)
No, but I have had my groin grabbed. Arm twisted. Arm into the ribs. In return, I've served some back. No holds barred, with a fumble. Not during a tackle when the guy has the ball, but everyone is in the pile, may the dirtiest guy win.
Paul (Wyoming)
What are the biggest differences between the Ravens and Jets?
Bart Scott (1:07 PM)
I just think the biggest difference is that we don't have the time in the system. We haven't been able to make the system our own. We had the time in the system to tweak it every year. When we have the time in and build that chemistry, we can take it to the next level.
Rob Quinn (Boston)
Mr Scott, You were visibly upset after the Dolphins game, do you stand behind your comments or was it a heat of the momment thing?
Bart Scott (1:08 PM)
It was a bit of both. OF course, I didn't want to concede anything to them. I wanted to take a shot at them and let them know that I still thought we were the better team and that they got an early Christmas gift.
Will (NJ)
What is your favorite away stadium to play in?
Bart Scott (1:09 PM)
The best surface I ever played on is Tampa or Jacksonville. Fast track Bermuda. It's almost like you're playing on turf but it doesn't hurt your knees as bad.
Memphis (tn)
Dolphins beat you twice in 3 weeks and you are still think you are the better team?
Bart Scott (1:10 PM)
Yeah, it happens in sports all the time. Just ask the Denver Nuggets who beat the Sonics in the playoffs. This isn't a 7 game series where usually the best teams win. Any given Sunday you can have an upset. Go across the board and trade out players, see how many you'd keep from their roster and our roster. Look at the game statistics as well. Also, ask Haseem Rockman if he's a better boxer than Lewis? Ask the 1980 USSR hockey team if they were better than USA.
Ryan (Bogalusa)
Bart, what do you think its going to take for you guys to get back in to the race for a wildcard at least?
Bart Scott (1:11 PM)
It's going to take us taking back games on the road. Your formula is to win 8 on the road and split on the road for 12-4. Now we have to win 6 games on the road. We have to get back to doing the small things. We have an opportunity to score points or get teams out on 3 and out, you do it. You don't let teams stick around with self-inflicted wounds.
Joe (Atlanta)
What was your "Welcome to the NFL, kid" moment?
Bart Scott (1:12 PM)
My first preseason game against the Lions, which was special to me, because I'm from Detroit. I got a sack in the game against Joey Harrington, I wasn't even supposed to be blitzing. One of the linemen hit me in the back of the head and it hurt the rest of my body. I knew then it was some real grown man stuff going on. I'm still looking for a rematch.
Andrew (Boston)
What QB do you respect the most in the league?
Bart Scott (1:14 PM)
I have four. I respect, of course, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, but the person I respect the most is Ben Roethlisberger. He's willing to take the bumps the most. He's willing to stare down the barrel of the gun and take the shot. Not just once or twice, but the whole game. He'll stand in there the whole game and sacrifice his body for the success of his team.
AR (MN)
What is your evaluation of rookie starting quarterback Mark Sanchez thus far?
Bart Scott (1:15 PM)
I think he's a primetime QB in the making. He's on track to be a good QB. Next year will be a breakout year for him. Right now it's tough because he's in the moment. But when he can step back and analyze the game and look at his weaknesses, I think he can have the same success that Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan are having in their sophomore season.
Brian (St. Augustine Florida)
Bart it's hard living in Florida being a Jets fan because everyone hates us. Can we please beat up on the Jags after the bye week so I can talk trash!
Bart Scott (1:16 PM)
I'm on the job. It's been a tough three weeks for you. We'll get it turned around for you. He who laughs last laughs the loudest.
John Scranton PA [via mobile]
what happened to our defense after the first 3 games? You guys were doing so well. After the bye week will we get back on track?
Bart Scott (1:17 PM)
I think the defense has had one bad outing. Other than that, we were the second best team in the league. We played some great offenses for us to be second, that means we're playing some pretty good football.
Bart Scott (1:18 PM)
I hope you're aware that we've only given up 7 TDs in 8 games as a defense. You've given up under a TD in a game.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Were you mad when Sanchez didnt share the hot dog?
Bart Scott (1:18 PM)
I was mad that the game ended so quickly because I couldn't wait for the Nacho Bell Grande we ordered. Oakland owes us $2.50.
Steven (NJ)
Do you have any pre-game rituals?
Bart Scott (1:19 PM)
No, actually. I'm always making sure I'm the last one out of the lockerroom. After the introductions, I say my prayer and my moment to reflect and soak in that I am able to play at this level and what a dream it is.
travis (nj)
can you make a prediction of the superbowl match up as of right now if you couldnt pick the jets?
Bart Scott (1:21 PM)
You can go Saints, but usually the team that has the best record doesn't go to the championship game. There's a lot to learn from losing. Just ask the Patriots. The favorite has to be the Saints, because they're playing hte best football, but you have to play the best in December and January. You can't count out the Steelers and the Ravens and Patriots. It's good to play physical football when it's cold out. Usually the tougher team wins. Maybe the Vikings.
Bart Scott (1:22 PM)
Continue to support. I appreciate every fan out there that supports. I will continue to do my best on the field as well as in the communities where I live and those that I don't. Football is just a springboard to help make other peoples' lives better!
