South Africa unlikely to host African Nations Cup should Morocco bow out

Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp has questioned whether or not the African Cup of Nations should take place this February, while Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has taken special precautions with his African players.

JOHANNESBURG -- South Africa is reluctant to step in as a last-minute host for next year's African Nations Cup, citing fears over Ebola and the unplanned cost of holding the event.

In a statement Friday, the South African sports ministry says "there are just too many factors to consider for South Africa."

The ministry hasn't yet been officially asked by the South African Football Association to consider hosting the tournament, but says Ebola is a concern.

Morocco denies withdrawing as African Nations Cup host

Ivory Coast captain Yaya Toure spoke ahead of his side's African Cup of Nations 2015 qualifier with DR Congo.

Not only were they under a new coach in Shakes Mashaba, whose last assignment was in charge of the South...

Road to the African Nations Cup is seldom easy

Algeria head coach Christian Gourcuff has admitted he needed more time to prepare his team for their African Cup of Nations Group B qualifying match against Ethiopia on Saturday.

African teams have begun their journeys to the next year's African Nations Cup (ANC) as the first group of away teams jetted off to their respective destinations ahead of the opening round of matches this weekend. Some travelling parties contained notable absentees, others struggled to get off the ground, and one left carrying little more than hope for a dream to come true.

Two goalkeepers are among the men missing out on the initial exchanges and one, Itumeleng Khune, could face a longer period...
