Montenegro manager Branko Brnovic praised the atmosphere before his side's European Qualifier against Russia, but quickly saw things take a turn for the worse after Igor Akinfeev was hit by a flare.

UEFA has charged both Montenegro and Russia after their Euro 2016 qualifier in Podgorica was abandoned after Russia players were hit by missiles.

The Montenegro Football Association has been charged with holding a match that did not get played in full, and for fans throwing fireworks and missiles. The Russian football union has also been charged for the setting off/throwing of fireworks and objects by their spectators.

Russia keeper Igor Akinfeev was knocked unconscious by a flare, prompting play to be suspended until further notice.

MOSCOW -- CSKA Moscow say Russia goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev should be ready to play this weekend after recovering from being hit in the head with a flare during a European Championship qualifying match against Montenegro.

A flare thrown from an area occupied by Montenegro fans hit Akinfeev in the back of the head during Friday's game. He was rushed to the hospital and treated for burns and a concussion.

The match was later abandoned following more crowd trouble.
