Nigeria's World Cup qualifying challenges remain before Russia 2018

Fans of the Super Eagles will now be able to watch Nigeria's ANC qualifiers.
Nigeria have plenty of work to do if they are to make World Cup qualifying easy.

Last week's preliminary draw officially signalled the start of the long road to reach the 2018 FIFA World Cup for the majority of the 209 member associations of FIFA and handed Nigeria a tie against either Djibouti or Swaziland in the second round of African qualifying.

Contrary to popular opinion -- borne of little else but fanciful nostalgia -- World Cup qualifying has never proved easy to negotiate for Nigeria. From the days when the Green Eagles, as they were previously known, were consistently...

John Obi Mikel: I would find it very hard to leave Chelsea

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho insists that his team 'don't have fragilities', and don't need any other players ahead of the new Premier League season.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho assesses the progress from players to coaches in Major League Soccer.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho praised the New York Red Bulls for their performance against his side in the International Champions Cup.

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has said he has no intention of leaving Stamford Bridge.

Mikel, 28 -- the Blues' second-longest serving player behind captain John Terry -- is preparing for his 10th season with the London club.

He has been linked with moves to United Arab Emirates side Al Ain and Turkish outfit Fenerbahce but said he wanted to see out the remaining two years of his contract.

"I want to stay and the manager wants me to stay," he told the club's official website. "I've got two years...

Victor Moses to be given Chelsea chance, says Jose Mourinho

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho insists that his team 'don't have fragilities', and don't need any other players ahead of the new Premier League season.

Victor Moses could remain at Chelsea for the 2015-16 season, according to manager Jose Mourinho.

Moses, 24, spent last season on loan at Stoke, scoring three goals in 19 Premier League appearances.

The Nigeria international faces stiff competition for a place in Chelsea's starting XI in the coming campaign, but Mourinho feels he could be an asset.

Mourinho said in the London Evening Standard: "I see him fitting in. He's strong, he's experienced, he knows the Premier League well, he's fast, he's...

Sunday Oliseh must bring genuine change as Nigeria's new manager

Sunday Oliseh has enough independence to bring about genuine change within the Nigerian national team.

There is something immediately refreshing about Sunday Oliseh. He belongs to that extremely rare breed of retired Nigerian international footballers who have not sat around waiting for opportunities. Instead, they've added a sound education to their natural talent.

Patrick Ekeji, Segun Odegbami, Adokiye Amiesimaka and Seyi Olofinjana are some of the few who also belong to this very exclusive club. Don't get me wrong; this is in no way to be confused with ex-footballers, especially those of the...
