Singapore's upcoming tour of Japan will be a good gauge for the Lions as they step up preparations for November's AFF Suzuki Cup, according to Tampines goalkeeper Izwan Mahbud.

Coach V. Sundramoorthy will take his squad to Japan from July 17 to 25 where they will play J-League club Albirex Niigata, a college team made up of Albirex reserves and a local Japanese university side.

Melbourne's Etihad Stadium will host Australia's crunch World Cup qualifier with arch-rivals Japan.

Football Federation Australia announced on Wednesday the roofed stadium had won the rights to stage October's game, beating bids from other states and preferred to the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Sevilla have signed Hiroshi Kiyotake after the Japanese midfielder passed a medical on Friday morning.

Kiyotake joins from German club Hannover on a four-year contract after terms were agreed on the transfer, according to a statement on the Spanish side's website.
