Joachim Low upbeat as Germany seek first tournament win over Italy

Italy coach Antonio Conte spoke on Monday after his side knocked out Spain 2-0 to reach the quarter-finals of the European Championship.

Joachim Low says Germany have no "Italy trauma" as they set their sights on a first victory over the Azzurri at a major tournament.

The two nations have met eight times at World Cups and European Championships but Germany are yet to secure victory, having recorded four draws and four defeats.

The most recent came at Euro 2012, when Low's side were beaten 2-1 in the semifinals.

Speaking prior to Saturday's quarterfinal in Bordeaux (9 p.m. CET/3 p.m. ET, ESPN2), though, Germany head coach Low told...

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea was credited with producing a "miracle" save in Spain's 2-0 Euro 2016 defeat to Italy on Monday.

Although a De Gea error, when he spilled an Eder free kick, led to Italy's opening goal, the goalkeeper then kept the score down with several impressive saves.

The Spain No. 1 had gone into the match under pressure after allowing Croatia's Ivan Perisic to score a late winning goal at his near post in the previous game, meaning that Vicente del Bosque's team lost...

Marcello Lippi's son regrets FA rules preventing role with Italy team

Marcello Lippi managed Guangzhou Evergrande (right) after managing the Italy team.

The son of Marcello Lippi has expressed his regret that his job as an agent has prevented his father from accepting a role as technical director for the Italy national team.

Rules recently passed by the Italian FA (FIGC) prevent any of its employees from working in a capacity as an agent, or being related to an agent. Davide Lippi is a FIFA registered agent and it is for that reason that his father Marcello had to turn down an offer by FIGC last week.

"I'm a FIFA agent and I always have and always...

Antonio Conte's Italy masterplan sees off Spain with high pressing

ESPN FC's Taylor Twellman and Craig Burley discuss Italy's 2-0 win over Spain in the round of 16.

Antonio Conte devised another masterplan to dump Spain out of Euro 2016 on Monday.

If teams tend to reflect the mentality of their coaches, Italy showed all the qualities that have made the former Juventus boss so successful: relentless intensity, faultless concentration and a strategic nous that appears to be above that of any other side at the tournament.

Vicente del Bosque can't say he wasn't warned. Earlier, Xavi had pointed out that Spain tend to struggle to press high when facing teams playing...

ESPN FC's Taylor Twellman and Craig Burley discuss Italy's 2-0 win over Spain in the round of 16.

Italy coach Antonio Conte insists he will have a plan B should Daniele De Rossi not recover in time to face Germany on Saturday.

The Roma midfielder limped out of Italy's 2-0 win over Spain in the second round of the European Championship on Monday, while his replacement Thiago Motta -- the only similar player Conte has in his 23-man squad -- picked up a second yellow card of the tournament and will be suspended for Saturday's quarterfinal in Bordeaux.

With Antonio Candreva also currently sidelined,...
