France play on after Paris attacks but lose friendly against England

France and England fans unite at Wembley to sing the French national anthem ahead of their international friendly.

Dele Alli and Wayne Rooney scored as England defeated France 2-0 in a friendly at Wembley on Tuesday, four days after the attacks in Paris.

England controlled much of the action after a rousing national anthem that saw England fans sing "La Marseillaise" in support of the French.

Tottenham's Alli scored his first goal for England in the 39th minute with a sharp shot from outside the area that took a slight deflection.

Rooney, whose earlier opportunity to open the scoring skewed just wide, did find...

Michael Skibbe appointed as new manager of Greece

ATHENS, Greece -- The Greek football association has hired Michael Skibbe of Germany as the new national team coach, the fourth man to take the position in little over a year following the country's disastrous European Championship qualifying campaign.

The 50-year-old former Schalke player has coached several major clubs in Germany and Turkey, including Borussia Dortmund and Galatasaray.

Greece have struggled since the 2014 World Cup with the departure of Fernando Santos, who left to coach his...

Even that number was considered too high by some, who wanted the fans to boycott the fixture completely in order to send the strongest possible message to the Greek Football Federation (EPO).

A couple days before the last Greece game in Euro 2016 qualifiers, popular journalist Vangelis Braoudakis published...

In what turned out to be an epic display of attacking football, Greece claimed all three points over Hungary.

Hungary saw their hopes of automatic Euro 2016 qualification put on hold as Greece finally stirred to claim a remarkable 4-3 victory in Piraeus.

Kostas Mitroglou and Panagiotis Kone struck in the last 11 minutes as the 2004 champions came from behind to win for the first time in their Group F qualifying campaign.

Hungary, who twice led in a pulsating game after two Krisztian Nemeth goals, had needed to win to stand any chance of pipping Romania to second spot but could still qualify automatically...
