FA, Premier League agree on Feb. 11 date for Roy Hodgson to meet players

The FA and the Premier League have agreed on a date for England's national team players to meet with Roy Hodgson.

Roy Hodgson is to meet up with a group of his England players next week following successful discussions between the Football Association and the Premier League.

The get-together will take place at St George's Park on Feb. 11, the FA has announced.

Just over a year ago, England boss Hodgson had planned to have a similar meeting, wary of a four-month gap in the international calendar, but was forced to scrap it after failing to find a suitable date with Premier League clubs.

Gary Neville has said he is confident that England can win a major trophy and not fail like the "golden generation" of which he was part.

Valencia coach Neville, who represented his country between 1995 and 2007, lined up alongside players such as Steven Gerrard, Paul Scholes, David Beckham, Frank Lampard, John Terry, Michael Owen and Rio Ferdinand.

Darius Vassell is hanging up his boots at 35.

Former England and Aston Villa striker Darius Vassell has announced his retirement at the age of 35.

The Sutton Coldfield-born player, who had been without a club since 2012, earned 22 England caps, scoring six goals, during the reign of manager Sven-Goran Eriksson.
