LMA 'would support Rooney Rule with FA, Premier League backing'

A 16ft statue of the world's first black professional footballer, Arthur Wharton, was unveiled at St George's Park this month.

The League Managers' Association (LMA) has confirmed it would back the introduction of the Rooney Rule if football's stakeholders backed the idea.

The Rooney Rule -- which stipulates that American NFL teams must interview at least one minority candidate for head coach and general manager roles -- has been the subject of some debate in recent weeks, with calls for greater representation of black or ethnic minorities (BME) given there are just two BME managers working in England's top four divisions.

Greg Dyke does not think 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be held in summer

One of the biggest issues facing the next FIFA president is the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Football Association chairman Greg Dyke still expects the Qatar World Cup to be switched to autumn or winter.

However, Rodgers insisted after Liverpool's 3-0 defeat to Real Madrid that Sterling had every right to go out, and that the incident is "not a story."

"I think for...

Romelu Lukaku: Ross Barkley will take Wayne Rooney's place for England

Ross Barkley has been tipped to become the future for his country.

Romelu Lukaku says Ross Barkley is the perfect player to eventually replace Wayne Rooney as England's No.10, because the Everton midfielder has an ability unknown to other players.

Barkley made his first start of the season in Everton's 3-0 Premier League win against Aston Villa last Saturday, having returned from a knee injury he suffered days before the new campaign kicked off.

His shining return, which included an assist for Lukaku's third goal of the season, inspired his teammates to an impressive...
