Gao Hongbo will take the helm for China's next two World Cup qualifiers.

BEIJING -- Gao Hongbo has returned as interim coach of China following the departure of Frenchman Alain Perrin last month.

Gao will take the helm for China's next two World Cup qualifiers while the search for a permanent coach continues, the Chinese Football Association (CFA) has announced. He had previously led the team from 2009 to 2011.

Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Alexander Meier has revealed that he turned down an offer from China.

Meier, 33, scored his second hat trick of the Bundesliga season on Sunday when he helped his side to a 3-2 win over last season's runners-up Wolfsburg.

He has now scored 111 goals for the club he joined from Hamburg in 2004 and hopes to add many more during the 18 months he has left on his current deal.
