De Gea, Rooney, Sterling and Martial among Euro 2016 disappointments

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says Raheem Sterling took too much of the blame for England's disappointing Euros.
ESPN FC's most disappointing XI.

Portugal beat France 1-0 to win Euro 2016 but it was a tournament where plenty of big names failed to deliver. Here's ESPN FC's most disappointing XI from the tournament.

GK David De Gea (Spain)

Perhaps it was the difficulty he found himself in on the eve of the tournament? Maybe it was Spain coach Vicente del Bosque's delay in naming him ahead of Iker Casillas? But De Gea never looked settled in France. He kept clean sheets in the 1-0 and 3-0 wins against Czech Republic and Turkey respectively...

Antoine Griezmann, Iceland and Wales among the stars of Euro 2016

Portugal won Euro 2016 thanks to an extra time victory over France in Paris.

Congratulations to Portugal, winners of Euro 2016.

ESPN FC had country bloggers covering their team throughout the tournament in France and each have rated their side out of 10, chosen their favourite memory, star man, team of the tournament and predict what's next for their side.

ALBANIA: 7/10

Favourite memory: Hal Robson-Kanu scoring Wales' crucial second against Belgium in their 3-1 win in the quarterfinals. The unattached striker fooled three defenders before clipping a shot...

Ronaldo and Portugal's glory, Iceland and Wales heroes while England flop

Portugal won Euro 2016 after beating France in the final

ESPN FC had bloggers covering each country at Euro 2016. It was glory for Portugal, who overcame Cristiano Ronaldo's injury to stun France in the final.

Elsewhere, England endured a miserable tournament, limping through the group stages before an abject 2-1 defeat to Iceland in the round of 16 cost Roy Hodgson his job.

Iceland were one of the stories of the competition, though, reaching the quarterfinals before bowing out to the hosts. Similarly, Wales also captured the imagination following their...

Roy Hodgson and Marc Wilmots top list of managerial failures at Euro 2016

Exit the excellent. Three weeks into Euro 2016, the quarterfinal defeats of Italy and Iceland brought comparative rarities. Overachieving, truly impressive managers -- in the Azzurri's Antonio Conte and the Scandinavian alliance of Lars Lagerback and Heimir Hallgrimsson -- have been knocked out. They went with their standing enhanced, while others have not. In many cases, disappointing displays by teams can be traced to poor choices taken in the dugouts. In a tournament notable for some dodgy decision-makers,...

Austria's Christian Fuchs retires from international football after Euro exit

Austria captain Christian Fuchs has announced his retirement from international football.

Leicester City defender Fuchs, 30, was unable to help Austria reach the knockout stages of Euro 2016.

Austria suffered a disappointing exit, failing to reproduce their impressive qualifying form as they finished bottom of Group F, behind Austria, Iceland and Portugal.

"The match against Iceland was my last one in red-white-red," Fuchs said in a video message posted on his Facebook page.

"I'm very proud of the...
