Juan Carlos Osorio says Mexico, Sao Paulo decision due on Wednesday

ESPN FC's Alejandro Moreno says Mexico's bid to have former Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp as manager of their national team may have been just wishful thinking.

Juan Carlos Osorio said he will announce by Wednesday whether he plans to resign as coach at Sao Paulo and take the job as Mexico national team coach.

Following Sao Paulo's 1-0 win over Atletico Paranaense, Osorio said he is making an effort to remain for longer with the Brazilian club and make the commitment to coach Mexico at the same time.

Vasco da Gama can avoid relegation with attack-minded boss Jorginho

Jorginho is Vasco's third coach this campaign and he may just pull off a relegation miracle before the season is done.

Last Wednesday night, 3-0 down from the first leg, Vasco da Gama fielded a reserve side for their Brazilian Cup quarterfinal tie against Sao Paulo.

Supporters of rival Rio de Janeiro clubs enjoyed themselves. There was a joke going round. "Vasco's game tonight is going to be cancelled," I was informed by a fan of Fluminense. "They won't be able to put a side out. How can they field a reserve team when they don't even have a first team?"

Ronaldinho has no plans to retire and is studying offers, says brother

Brazilian star Ronaldinho launches a counterattack with this extraordinary piece of skill in Queretaro's 2-2 Liga MX Torneo Clausura quarterfinal against Veracruz.

Ronaldinho's brother and agent has dismissed any talk of the two-time FIFA World Player of the Year retiring and said he is "carefully studying the offers that are coming in."

Brazil legend Ronaldinho, 35, was released by Fluminense on Monday after just two months and nine matches at the Rio de Janeiro club.

However, any speculation that the former Barcelona star -- who won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002 -- would take this setback as his cue to end his playing career was ruled out by his older...

Brazil referee who pulled gun at game won't be punished, report says

A Brazilian referee faces disciplinary action after he pulled out a handgun during a dispute with players.

The Minas Gerais referees commission on Thursday said it stands behind referee Gabriel Murta, who was captured on video pulling out a handgun during a dispute with players, according to an ESPN Brazil report.

The commission said Murta, who has been on the police force for the past four years and has been a referee for the past 10, will not be punished.

Murta, meanwhile, told ESPN Brazil that he acted in self-defense after he was reportedly kicked and slapped during an amateur game last weekend...
