Fleetwood and Shrewsbury did their League One survival hopes no favours as they shared the spoils in a grim relegation battle that ended goalless.

Chances were limited in a first half which served to highlight the problems of both teams struggling towards the bottom end of the table.

Shaun Whalley should have put the visitors ahead when Stephen Jordan unwittingly teed up the Shews man with Chris Maxwell parrying his shot before Whalley fired the rebound wide.

For Fleetwood, Ash Hunter stung the palms...

Goals from Marley Watkins, Sam Winnall and Adam Hammill saw Barnsley coast to a 3-0 victory over Bury to extend their winning league run to seven games - in spite of their managerial chaos.

Lee Johnson left for Bristol City on Saturday despite his club's fine run of form, but it was business as usual at Oakwell.

Barnsley were on top from the start with Conor Hourihane putting a low drive wide and Hammill having a shot saved early on.

Watkins (20) opened the scoring when he created space for himself...

Port Vale substitute Sam Kelly rifled a brilliant equaliser seven minutes from time to earn his team a richly deserved point in an entertaining 1-1 home draw against Coventry.

The home side made the early running against a nervous visiting defence with Reice Charles-Cook saving from Ajay Leitch-Smith and Theo Robinson.

And the Coventry 'keeper saved his team again in the 29th minute after the lively Leitch-Smith broke free from Robinson's pass to fire a low shot from 14 yards.

Three goals in the last eight minutes handed Southend a dramatic 3-0 win against local rivals Colchester at Roots Hall this afternoon.

The bottom-of-the-table Us had midfielder Alex Gilbey sent off for a poor challenge on Ryan Leonard after 36 minutes.

But Phil Brown's side struggled to make the breakthrough until the closing stages when Anthony Wordsworth, Adam Barrett and Sam McQueen all netted in quick succession.

Colchester held their own early on and came close to taking the lead when Richard Brindley's...

Crewe offered their fans hope they may yet beat the drop as a 2-0 win over Rochdale extended their unbeaten run to four matches.

Steve Davis' side - resident for so long at the bottom of Sky Bet League One this term - made the most of poor Dale defending on a rain-sodden Gresty Road pitch to sweep into a two-goal interval lead.

They had to defend doggedly at times and Rochdale's leading scorer Ian Henderson should have done better with a first-half header he directed the wrong side of the post.

But...
