Southend moved themselves out of League One's bottom four by earning a 2-2 draw at Coventry.

Both sides could have opened the scoring in the first quarter of an hour - a very open 15 minutes that set the tone for the rest of the game.

The deadlock was eventually broken in the 34th minute when Coventry made the most of a contentious corner. Adam Armstrong saw his header cleared off the line before Reda Johnson smashed home.

The lead was short-lived as Southend's Noel Hunt headed in from close range from...

Michael Jacobs scored the only goal as Wigan edged a north-west derby 1-0 against Crewe Alexandra at the DW Stadium.

The home side were ahead as early as the 12th minute, Jacobs rising to head home Max Power's left-wing corner from close range.

But Crewe were almost level within three minutes when Bradden Inman's strike from distance hit the inside of the post and somehow bounced out.

Jacobs was involved again midway through the half, beating two defenders before seeing his shot smothered by goalkeeper...

George Elokobi's late equaliser helped Colchester recover a two-goal deficit to salvage a 2-2 draw with visitors Scunthorpe.

Scunthorpe made a great start after taking a seventh-minute lead through Kevin van Veen, whose 25-yard free-kick flew into the bottom corner.

And things got even better for the visitors 10 minutes later when Paddy Madden raced on to Scott Laird's fine pass in behind Colchester's defence and composed himself before slotting low inside the near post.

Madden's first-time volley sailed...

Keith Hill savoured the taste of victory versus former club Barnsley as his Rochdale side cruised to a 3-0 win at Spotland.

The Dale chief, sacked by the Tykes in December 2012, saw his side pick up three comfortable points against a Barnsley side who looked a shadow of the team which ran Barclays Premier League giants Everton so close in the Capital One Cup just three days earlier.

Calvin Andrew fired the home side ahead in the seventh minute with a fierce drive from the edge of the area. Tykes goalkeeper...

Romaine Sawyers scored twice to fire Walsall to the top of League One with a 4-0 thrashing of rock-bottom Blackpool.

Sawyers opened and completed the scoring to take his tally for the season to four, with a Tom Aldred own goal and Sam Mantom header in between.

Blackpool had actually started well and inside the first minute David Ferguson's piledriver was well-held by Saddlers goalkeeper Neil Etheridge.

But Walsall were soon on top and Sawyers wasted Tom Bradshaw's assist by blazing wide from 10 yards.

Sawyers...
