Allardyce with every reason to smile after another West Ham win

West Ham United manager, Sam Allardyce noted that both he and his team needed a result today, especially because it was his birthday.

With West Ham reaching the dizzying heights of fourth in the Premier League following the 3-1 demolition of Burnley at Turf Moor, mainly on the back of another powerhouse display from Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia, manager Sam Allardyce can now take a few moments out on his 60th birthday and allow himself a self-satisfied smile.

Nobody is pretending that there won't be harder battles and bigger problems coming than those posed by this toothless but enterprising Burnley side, but all the Hammers...

Hammers fans feeling bullish ahead of trip to Burnley - but beware

With a home win over Southampton, things could start to look up for West Ham boss Sam Allardyce.
Sam Allardyce has enjoyed a strong start to the season at West Ham, with a thumping win at home to Liverpool the highlight so far.

You know there is something going on at Upton Park when an unofficial West Ham fans' website had 78 percent of supporters backing the away win ahead of the trip to Burnley this Saturday.

Forgotten man Andy Carroll deserves one last chance to silence detractors

Andy Carroll has been linked with a move from West Ham back to former club Newcastle United.

These stories are usually underlined by the undeniable fact that Carroll has endured a miserable, injury-hit spell at Upton Park, while Newcastle could certainly do with having a hero to worship again.

The rumours...

West Ham hardly troubled in stroll past QPR

The three points that West Ham gained in a surprisingly low-key 2-0 victory over local rivals Queens Park Rangers at the Boleyn, will undoubtedly please manager Sam Allardyce. But it's likely to be the fact that this is the first Hammers clean sheet of the season that will really make his weekend.

- Report: Sakho deals victory for West Ham vs. QPR
- Report: Allardyve surprised by Sakho's impact

The Hammers entertained the television cameras for the third time in four weeks, but this will go down...

Signs of harmony emerge in West Ham, Sam Allardyce relationship

For many years I carried a clipping around in my wallet. It was a cartoon cut from a daily newspaper depicting a surly-looking man wearing a scarf and bobble hat with the crossed Hammer insignia on it, walking obliviously in front of two girls who were discussing him. "Passionate?" said one. "I should say so! Just let anyone try and criticise West Ham."

Apart from the amusing aspect of the cartoon itself, the simple drawing seemed to summon up some greater depth in the psyche of the average Hammers...
