Clint Dempsey pulls out of U.S. friendlies with hamstring injury

Clint Dempsey injured his right hamstring in training on Monday and will miss the next 2-3 weeks.

Clint Dempsey will miss both of the United States' upcoming friendlies with a hamstring injury, U.S. Soccer announced on Tuesday.

The Seattle Sounders forward injured his right hamstring in training on Monday and will be sidelined for 2-3 weeks.

The injury will prevent him from playing against Denmark on Wednesday (3 p.m. ET, ESPN/WatchESPN) or March 31 against Switzerland. 

Dempsey left the U.S. camp in Zurich and returned to Seattle on Tuesday.

Sounders agree to lease extension, to remain at CenturyLink through 2028

The Sounders will remain in their current home long after Clint Dempsey's time is up in Seattle

SEATTLE -- The Seattle Sounders will continue to call CenturyLink Field home through the 2028 season after agreeing to a 10-year lease extension.

The Sounders and First & Goal Inc., which oversees operations of the stadium, announced the new lease Monday. Seattle has led the league in attendance playing at the facility since entering Major League Soccer in 2009. The Sounders averaged 43,734 fans last season, good for 27th among all soccer clubs in the world, and has sold out 109 straight MLS matches.

Wondolowski brace edges San Jose past Seattle, Columbus beat Toronto

The San Jose Earthquakes won their first match of the season on the road against the Seattle Sounders via a Chris Wondolowski brace.

Chris Wondolowski scored twice and Innocent Emeghara added goal in the San Jose Earthquakes' 3-2 victory over the Seattle Sounders.

San Jose played nearly the entire second half a man down after Victor Bernardez was sent off in the 52nd minute for a bad tackle attempt.
