Markus Weinzierl set to be named Schalke manager after Augsburg exit

Markus Weinzierl is on the verge of becoming the next manager of Schalke after revealing he'll part ways with Augsburg this summer.

Markus Weinzierl is set to be named Schalke's new coach after he announced he is leaving Augsburg this summer.

Although neither club have yet to discuss the rumours, Weinzierl told Germany's Die Zeit newspaper that he is moving on, saying it was "the right decision for both sides."

"We've achieved everything we could possibly achieve together,'' he added. "Now somebody with fresh ideas and fresh vision must take over.''

Schalke to sign Naldo from Wolfsburg after Manchester United reports

Naldo made 29 Bundesliga appearances this season.

Schalke have announced the signing of reported Manchester United target Naldo on a free transfer from Wolfsburg.

Naldo, 33, will join Schalke on a two-year contact, with an option for a further season, as his current terms at Wolfsburg are due to expire on June 30.

The Brazilian defender has been at Wolfsburg since signing for the club from Werder Bremen in 2012.

Schalke head coach Andre Breitenreiter confirms departure

Andre Breitenreiter led Schalke to fifth place in the Bundesliga this season.

Andre Breitenreiter has revealed he will leave Schalke despite guiding the club to the Europa League group stages next season.

The Royal Blues made the announcement just prior to their 4-1 win over Hoffenheim on the final day of the Bundesliga campaign, a result which secured fifth place in the table.

Head coach Breitenreiter then confirmed the news in a pre-match interview with Sky Sport.
