PSG negotiate tricky Ajaccio test as Coupe de la Ligue title defence begins

Serge Aurier climbs above the Ajaccio defence to nod PSG into the lead on Wednesday.

Paris Saint-Germain got their Coupe de la Ligue title defence underway with a 3-1 win over Ligue 2 side AC Ajaccio on Wednesday. The Corsican side did not prove to be rollovers at the Stade Francois Coty, even if the scoreline suggests that the result was never in doubt, but Laurent Blanc's men did eventually get the job done.

Johan Cavalli's 27th minute penalty gave the hosts the lead and Les Ours could and should have doubled it before the end of the first half. Lucas Moura provided Edinson Cavani...

Coupe de la Ligue: PSG come from behind to beat Ajaccio

Serge Aurier scores for PSG to get them ahead.

Paris Saint-Germain came from behind to beat Ajaccio 3-1 after going behind to a shock penalty from Johan Cavalli in the Coupe de la Ligue on Wednesday.

Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were rested for the clash and the French champions had lost their previous two fixtures.

Cavalli slotted home his spot-kick just before the half-hour mark, but Edinson Cavani netted in the second half.

Two goals in the space of five minutes then turned the tie as Serge Aurier and Jean-Christophe...

Ligue 1 is the most exciting title race in Europe at the moment

ESPN FC's Stuart Holden contends that Chelsea has better chemistry in midfield than PSG.

Our back catalogue of films consist of many a twisted love story with a psychological edge, our best writers philosophize and give social commentary and our general elections are a one horse race where politicians make predictable comebacks. However our football is different. We've done suspense pretty well over the last few years, even more so this year.

Laurent Blanc wary of losing out to Jose Mourinho's 'mind games'

PSG manager Laurent Blanc believes Chelsea are a stronger side than last season, but explains his side are continuing to improve as the season progresses.

Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc has refused to be drawn into Jose Mourinho's mind games ahead of their Champions League tie, admitting the Chelsea boss "is a lot stronger" than him in out-psyching opponents.

Prior to Monday's Champions League last 16 draw, Mourinho stated he hoped to draw PSG in the knockout stages as "it would be easy to travel for us and to travel for the fans," and added: "They are a very good team, and I would prefer a very good team, as that will motivate my boys."
