Angel Correa delivered the winner as Atletico stayed level on points with Barcelona.

Atletico Madrid kept up the pressure on rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid in the race for the Primera Division title with a 1-0 home win over a stubborn Malaga side.

Angel Correa climbed off the bench to score the winning goal just after the hour mark as coach Diego Simeone watched on from the stands, having been sent there by the referee following a bizarre first-half incident.

The victory was a fifth on the trot in La Liga for the Rojiblancos and, as well as keeping them flying high domestically,...

Federico Ricca struck an injury-time equaliser as Malaga denied Rayo Vallecano a crucial win at Estadio La Rosaleda.

Ricca, a January signing from Uruguayan side Danubio, popped up to turn the ball home in the closing moments to cancel out Jose Baena's fortunate opener.

Rayo thought they had recorded a second straight win in their bid to put breathing space between themselves and the bottom three, but they had to settle for point.

Ninth-placed Malaga had the better of the chances but were wasteful,...

Athletic Bilbao eased the pain of their cruel penalty shoot-out elimination from the Europa League by beating Malaga 1-0 to boost their hopes of qualifying for the competition again next season.

Raul Garcia's header in the 53rd minute gave the visitors the lead against the run of play but they held on for the three points thanks to some fine saves from goalkeeper Gorka Iraizoz.

Athletic capitalised on Celta Vigo drawing with Real Betis to move ahead of the Galicians and up to fifth in the Primera Division,...

Samuel Eto'o threatens Sampdoria with lawsuit in contract dispute

Samuel Eto'o only played half a season with Sampdoria.

Four-time African player of the year Samuel Eto'o has threatened to sue his former club Sampdoria over a contract dispute.

Eto'o claims that when he joined Sampdoria in January 2015, there was a stipulation in his contract that the Serie A club would also sign fellow Cameroon international Fabrice Olinga, a product of Eto'o's youth academy.

Eto'o says "I'm only asking that president Massimo Ferrero and his lawyer do the right thing."

The 19-year-old Olinga plays for Belgian club Royal Mouscron-Peruwelz...

Granada ground out another point in the battle to beat the drop as they held Malaga to a goalless draw on Friday night.

The hosts, who started the day a point above the Primera Division's bottom three, picked up their fourth straight draw in the league to dent Malaga's slim hopes of Europa League qualification.

The point left the visitors seven points off the top six, having now played a game more.

And the draw will have certainly been a more welcome result for Granada, who extended their unbeaten run...
