Nolan Roux scored in each half as Lille coach Rene Girard bowed out in style with a comfortable 4-1 victory over already-relegated Metz at Stade Saint-Symphorien on Saturday night.

Florent Balmont, Idrissa Gueye and Roux fired the visitors into a quick-fire 3-0 lead just before the break and the latter added his second from the penalty spot after 68 minutes, before Jose Palomino claimed a late consolation for Metz.

The three points strengthened Lille's hold on eighth as Girard's men bounced back to...

Herve Renard has been linked to a move to Lille to replace outgoing coach Rene Girard.

ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast -- Herve Renard has quit as Ivory Coast coach three months after leading the team to the African Nations Cup title.

The Ivory Coast Football Federation said on Friday it had agreed to end the Frenchman's contract early.

Rene Girard to leave Lille as coach at the end of 2014-15 Ligue 1 season

Rene Girard led Lille to third place last season.

Lille have announced coach Rene Girard will leave his role this summer.

Girard was named Ligue 1 coach of the year for the second time last season after leading Les Dogues to third place.

But they lie eighth this term and Saturday's game at Metz will be the 61-year-old's last at the helm.

A club statement read: "LOSC and coach Rene Girard will bring an end to their collaboration at the end of the 2014-15 season. This decision has been taken by mutual agreement between the two parties after two years...

Marseille made a mockery of Lille's formidable home form with a 4-0 mauling at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

Lille had won their last five home games and had only suffered three league defeats in front of their own fans in almost 18 months, but rampant Marseille ran out big winners.

Andre-Pierre Gignac opened the scoring after just two minutes and further goals Rod Fanni, Romain Alessandrini and Andre Ayew saw Lille suffer their biggest home loss in any competition since 1997.

Marseille, who have now won...

Rene Girard committed to stay as Lille manager

Rene Girard says he wants to remain as Lille boss, contrary to reports.

Lille boss Rene Girard insists he is not "worn out" and intends to persevere with the Ligue 1 club.

Reports in France have suggested the 61-year-old was set to leave the Stade Pierre-Mauroy at the end of a disappointing season which, with only two games remaining, offers only a sixth-placed finish at best.

But at his press conference ahead of Saturday's meeting with Marseille, Girard stressed he remains in charge following talks with chairman Michel Seydoux.

He said: "I've met with the president,...
