DC United beat RSL on record day for goals; NYCFC lose in Lampard's debut

DC United became the first team in MLS history to come back from two goals down in back to back games as they outlasted RSL in a 10-goal thriller.

Perry Kitchen broke a 4-4 tie in the 79th minute and DC United beat Real Salt Lake 6-4.

The 10 goals fell one short of the MLS single-game record.

Kitchen's header, off of a long service from Taylor Kemp, beat Jeff Attinella for the difference-maker. Nick Deleon's left-footed blast from way outside provided insurance six minutes later.

The teams combined for seven goals in the second half, one short of the record for most goals in a half.

SANDY, Utah -- Javier Morales scored in the first half, Joao Plata had a go-ahead penalty in the 73rd minute and Real Salt Lake beat Sporting Kansas City 2-1 on Friday night.

RSL won its second straight game after a four-game winless stretch. Sporting KC had its three-game winning streak stopped.

Union hold on to beat Red Bulls on penalties, SKC drop Houston 3-1

The Philadelphia Union advanced to the semifinals of the U.S. Open Cup by outlasting the New York Red Bulls 4-3 on penalties on Tuesday.

After the game finished 1-1 at the end of extra time, Fernando Aristeguieta sent in the winning penalty for the Union.

The Union played down a man for more than an hour after Conor Casey was shown a straight red card for a late tackle on Red Bulls defender Connor Lade.
