Abel Hernandez, Mohamed Diame help Hull faithful forget ownership woe

In a hotly contested match, West Ham United equalised late to share a point with Hull City.

Since signing on the dotted line to become Hull City's most expensive player in a 10 million-pound deal on the first of September, Abel Hernandez has travelled here, there and everywhere but to East Yorkshire.

As well as trips to Japan and South Korea for friendly games with Uruguay, there was a return trip to Italy to patiently wait on a visa from the British Embassy. That eventually turned up in Croydon of all places before the paperwork finally fell into Hernandez's relieved hands in Rome.

Bruce soldiers on at Hull City amid uncertainty

Hull City owner and chairman Assem Allam has revealed that the club is up for sale, as his dispute with the FA over changing the name of the club continues.

"I think I can guess what your first question is going to be," said Hull City boss Steve Bruce, devouring breakfast on the go in the KC Stadium's media suite on Friday morning. "And it'll not be team news."

Soon enough Bruce was proved right. The opening stages of his weekly news conference gave no mention of the visit of West Ham United. The potential debuts of four deadline-day signings barely got a look in. Instead it was a stroll along familiar ground following news that the club was up for...

Aston Villa defeat a byproduct of European failings?

Hull City manager Steve Bruce criticised his team's first half performance in the 2-1 loss to Aston Villa.

Already, it seems that Hull City's early exit from the Europa League is going to cast a long shadow.

Message boards are convulsed with cross arguments, quarreling over whether Europe or the Premier League should take precedence. Radio phone-ins are used to bicker over the rightness or wrongness of Steve Bruce fielding a weakened side in Belgium. Its impact, good or bad, is loudly and heatedly debated wherever you look in Hull.

With that unhappy backdrop, and with the dismay of that premature departure...

Steve Bruce must pick Hull up vs. Aston Villa after Europa League heartbreak

Steve Bruce's decision not to start Tom Huddlestone or Nikica Jelavic in the Europa League cost Hull.

"If only ...?" The perpetual lament of the downtrodden football fan has been well repeated in 2014 by Hull City fans, who will remember this as a year in which those aching sentiments dominated everything else.

On May 17, City lost an FA Cup final they'd led 2-0. It was shattering, but there was pride in the performance against Arsenal, honour at being there for the first time and the thrilling prospect of European football on the horizon. Fans of the club spent much of the summer wistfully thinking...

Hull holding their own

Two games, four points. A start to file under "encouraging -- with qualifications."

The league table, first. We can divine nothing from a league table written before August is out that we could not predict before the season began. The likely champions will be in either sky or deep blue. Manchester United will not trouble the Premier League's trophy engraver. Everton will finish fourth-seventh. Burnley and QPR probably won't. And so on.

Nonetheless, Hull City boss Steve Bruce will be pleased by...
