Fiorentina told to make move for Sunderland's Emanuele Giaccherini

ESPN FC's Ross Dyer and Brian McBride assess the goalkeeper situation at Everton and Manchester City.

The agent of Sunderland midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini has urged Fiorentina to move fast if they want to sign the Italy international this summer.

Giaccherini, 31, spent the season on loan at Bologna, scoring seven goals in 28 games and earning his place in the provisional Italy squad for Euro 2016.

He is unlikely to be part of the Sunderland squad next season, even though he is yet to work with Sam Allardyce who replaced Dick Advocaat during last season, with several suitors in Serie A.

Fiorentina finished the Serie A season in fifth place after beating Lazio 4-2 on Miroslav Klose's curtain call at the Stadio Olimpico.

Briefly dislodged by surprise package Sassuolo, Fiorentina managed to reclaim their automatic Europa League berth thanks to a Matias Vecino brace and further strikes from Federico Bernardeschi and Cristian Tello.

Senad Lulic had given Lazio the early lead and the last goal of the evening was scored by German veteran Klose, whose second-half penalty was his last significant...

Palermo crept out of the Serie A relegation zone by grinding out a barely deserved point from a goalless draw at Fiorentina.

Davide Ballardini's men were level on points with 17th-placed Carpi heading into Sunday's game at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, and a share of the spoils from Florence and a Biancorossi defeat to Lazio helped Palermo escape the bottom three ahead of their final-day showdown with Hellas Verona.

It could have been a different story had keeper Stefano Sorrentino not mounted a sturdy...

Chievo and Fiorentina shared the spoils in a goalless draw as both sides failed to find the breakthrough at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi.

Mauro Zarate had the best chance to break the deadlock with his second-half free-kick hitting the crossbar as Paulo Sousa's side extend their winless run to three games.

Having seen their Champions League qualification hopes dashed in recent weeks, La Viola remain fifth, holding on to the last Europa League qualification spot while the hosts sit in eight pl...

Fiorentina coach Paulo Sousa admits to feeling drained by season

Maligned by fans at the start of the season, new Fiorentina boss Paulo Sousa has the club sitting atop Serie A.
Paulo Sousa says he has 'reached the stage where I'm tired.'

Fiorentina coach Paulo Sousa has said he is mentally tired as he comes towards the end of his first season as a Serie A boss.

The Viola topped the table earlier this season and, with Juventus and Napoli both making poor starts to the campaign, were being tipped to win the Scudetto.

But they have won just one of their last nine games, and Sousa told Mediaset: "There's such a fierce competition among coaches here in Italy, and all sides are difficult to beat.

"This city and this club need to improve...
