Cologne say deal for Borussia Dortmund's Neven Subotic is difficult

Neven Subotic is set to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.

Cologne have confirmed their interest in Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic but said the deal would be difficult financially.

Subotic, 27, announced at the weekend that he plans to leave Dortmund after falling down the pecking order following the appointment of Thomas Tuchel last year.

When asked by kicker about Cologne's potential interest, sporting director Michael Schmadtke said: "That's a consideration, but he's practically in another category."

Cologne have dismissed reports they have agreed a fee with Liverpool for Germany international Jonas Hector.

At the weekend, Liverpool fanzine This Is Anfield reported the Reds and Cologne have agreed a fee for to transfer the left-back and suggested he could move to the Premier League for around £12 million.

But speaking to Bild, Cologne sporting director Jorg Schmadtke dismissed those reports.

Wolfsburg seal deal for Cologne midfielder Yannick Gerhardt

Wolfsburg have signed Cologne midfielder Yannick Gerhardt on a five-year contract.

Gerhardt, 22, made his under-21 debut for Germany last season and played 29 times for Cologne as they finished ninth in the Bundesliga.
