Carlos Tevez's goal carried Juventus to victory on Saturday.

A fourth straight Serie A title is Juventus' for the taking after they beat Empoli 2-0 on Saturday night to establish a 14-point advantage at the top of the table with nine games of the season remaining.

Carlos Tevez opened the scoring shortly before the interval and Roberto Pereyra added a second in stoppage time as the Bianconeri responded to wins from Roma and Lazio to restore a seemingly unassailable lead at the top of the standings.

They also had goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon to thank for making...

Italy debut emotional for Empoli's Mirko Valdifiori

England captain Wayne Rooney and goalscorer Andros Townsend gave their verdict on Tuesday following their side's 1-1 draw with Italy in an international friendly in Turin.

Empoli midfielder Mirko Valdifiori admits he could not sleep due to excitement the night after he was marked by Wayne Rooney.

The 28-year-old made his Italy debut in Tuesday night's 1-1 friendly draw against England. Up against him for much of the night was Rooney playing in a deep role for the Three Lions -- a dream scenario for Valdifiori, even if it did mean that night he did not get to dream at all.

"It really was such a feeling to mark and be marked by someone like Rooney," he said at a news...

Torino match against Empoli moved due to Superga anniversary

MILAN -- Torino's home match against Empoli has been pushed back a day, as it falls on the 66th anniversary of the Superga air disaster which claimed 31 lives.

The match was originally scheduled to take place on May 4, but will now be played the following day.

In 1949, the 'Grande Torino' side -- which had won five successive league titles -- were returning to Turin after playing a friendly against Benfica when their plane crashed into the hillside of Superga, killing all 31 people on board.

Empoli climbed above Sassuolo in the Serie A standings thanks to a 3-1 win at the Stadio Carlo Castellini on Sunday.

Riccardo Saponara was on target twice with Levan Mchedlidze netting the Tuscan side's other goal.

An own goal from Daniele Rugani brought Sassuolo level just after half-time but it was not enough to prevent them from falling to their fifth defeat in their last six games.

Sassuolo could have taken the lead when Daniele Croce's flicked header was turned behind by Luigi Sepe.
