Riccardo Saponara and Empoli were frustrated by Bologna in a mid-table goalless draw at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.

The Tuscan side were dominant and might have scored through Piotr Zielinski, the Polish playmaker fluffing a one-on-one with Antonio Mirante.

Saponara missed two gilt-edged chances after the break and, in the 64th minute, demanded a penalty when he was fouled in the Bologna box as he played the ball forward for Daniele Croce to convert from an offside position.

The former AC Milan player...

Antonio Di Natale to leave Udinese after 12 years with Serie A club

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti reacts to the Inter-Udinese game which made history by becoming the first Serie A game to start with all foreign players.

Udinese forward Antonio Di Natale has announced he will be leaving the Serie A club in the summer, although he added that he is not sure he is going to retire just yet.

The 38-year-old has suffered an injury-hit season which has restricted him to just 22 Serie A appearances, in which he has scored just one goal.

Speaking at a news conference on Friday, the former Italy international stated his desire to play one last time for Udinese before leaving when his contract expires this summer, and probably...

Substitute Kevin Lasagna fired Carpi three points clear of the Serie A relegation zone by settling a 1-0 victory over Empoli that relegated Hellas Verona.

Seventeenth-placed Carpi struggled to exploit their one-man advantage after Empoli striker Levan Mchedlidze was sent off in the 26th minute.

The promoted side finally made the breakthrough when second-half replacement Lasagna turned Lorenzo Pasciuti's cross home with five minutes remaining.

Carpi then lost Lorenzo Lollo to a red card but held on to...

Ten-man Hellas Verona are staring Serie A relegation in the face after going down 1-0 at Empoli.

The basement boys have only four games in which to save themselves and 17th-placed Carpi could seal their fate by opening a 12-point gap with victory at AC Milan on Thursday.

Verona had chances to score at the Stadio Carlo Castellani but it was Massimo Maccarone who grabbed the only goal of the game, the former Middlesbrough man notching in the 51st minute.

A 2-0 win over Empoli at the Stadio Olimpico meant Simone Inzaghi was able to celebrate victory in his first home game as Lazio boss.

The former Biancocelesti striker replaced Stefano Pioli as head coach two weeks ago, soon leading the Romans to a 3-0 triumph at Palermo.

And a sixth-minute penalty from Antonio Candreva, coupled with Ogenyi Onazi's close-range finish just before half-time, made it two wins from two for Inzaghi, who had his older brother Filippo supporting him from the stands.

The three...
