Four straight Bundesliga titles a big challenge for Bayern

The ESPN FC crew discusses Arturo Vidal's move to Bayern Munich and the impact he will have at the Allianz Arena under Pep Guardiola.

Before opening the season on August 14, Bayern Munich are overwhelming favourites to win an historic fourth straight Bundesliga title success. The record German champions won three consecutive titles in the 1970's, 80's and 90's. Given that Bayern have amassed Bundesliga 24 titles in only 52 attempts, perhaps it's an opportune time to ask why the Bavarian machine has found four in a row so elusive.

Bayern first sealed three in a row in the early 70's -- in the halcyon days of legends Paul Breitner,...

Bayern Munich have not put Mario Gotze up for sale - Rummenigge

Pep Guardiola denies rumours that Mario Gotze is set to leave Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said Mario Gotze has not been placed on the market, adding in kicker magazine: "Every player deserves another chance."

Gotze has fallen down the pecking order at Bayern after a largely disappointing season, and Juventus said last week that they had made an enquiry for the Germany international.

However, Rummenigge -- who has said Gotze appears keen to stay at the Allianz Arena -- stressed that they have not made any effort to offload the 23-year-old.

"We...

Bayern Munich still plan Pep Guardiola talks amid Man City speculation

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti reacts to the rumours that Pep Guardiola will be the manager of Manchester City in 2016.

Bayern Munich still plan to hold talks with Pep Guardiola later this year to determine whether he will prolong his stay at the club, CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said.

Guardiola has entered the final year of the three-year contract he signed in 2013 and has yet to decide his future.

At the weekend, Qatar-based network BeIN Sports reported that Guardiola has already agreed to leave Bayern next summer, and will take over at Manchester City in July 2016. However, the network reported earlier this year...

De Bruyne unsure on Wolfsburg future amid Man City, Bayern Munich links

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti believes that Manchester City are not prepared to break the bank on Kevin De Bryune even though the papers say otherwise.
The ESPN FC panel discusses Jose Mourinho's comments that Kevin De Bruyne is not willing to compete for a starting position at a top club.

Wolfsburg star Kevin De Bruyne has said he does not know where he will be playing this season amid links with Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

De Bruyne, recently named Germany's player of the year by journalists, has been strongly linked with a move to City in recent months.

The former Chelsea midfielder played a key role as Wolfsburg finished runners-up in the Bundesliga and won the DFB Pokal and, while his club have repeatedly said he is not on the market, sporting director Klaus Allofs suggested...
