Carlo Ancelotti the latest chapter to Bayern Munich's Italian history

With fellow Italian maestro Carlo Ancelotti ending his sabbatical to take over from Pep Guardiola at Bayern on July 1, the day before a mouth-watering Euro 2016 quarterfinal between heavyweights Italy and Germany -- it's an opportune time to look at the Italian influence on Bayern Munich during the years.

Carlo Ancelotti is to begin his Bundesliga reign at Bayern Munich with a home match against Werder Bremen on Aug. 26, the German Football League (DFL) announced on Wednesday. 

Ancelotti will oversee his first league match in charge at the Allianz Arena when the Bundesliga champions open the season against last year's strugglers Werder Bremen. They will then face an away trip to Schalke.

Bayern Munich fans used flares at Hertha's Olympiastadion during April's Bundesliga match.

Bayern Munich have been fined €45,000 by the German FA (DFB) following fan troubles during their away game at Hertha Berlin last season.

In late April, a number of Bayern fans used flares in the away section at Hertha's Olympiastadion and delayed kick-off for 90 seconds.

Following the match, some supporters clashed with police and stewards in the area around the stadium, and 27 were detained.
