Two under-pressure managers will pit their wits against each other when Bastia host Monaco in their Ligue 1 showdown.

Leonardo Jardim of Monaco has presided over four losses already this season but is nevertheless expected to inflict defeat on his opposite number at Bastia, Claude Makelele.

Jardim is convinced the age profile of his ninth-placed side ensures they will come good soon.

"We need to keep following our own path," said Jardim, who is missing thigh-injury victim Dimitar Berbatov for three...

LFP president Frederic Thiriez vowed action would be taken after the 'worrying and unacceptable' scenes.

Four people are in custody with further arrests expected after Nice fans invaded the pitch following Saturday's 1-0 home loss to Bastia.

Around 100 fans, members of the Populaire Sud ultras group, charged onto the pitch at the Allianz Riviera, sending both sets of players running for safety.

The incident was sparked when Bastia's substitute goalkeeper Jean-Louis Leca brandished a Corsica flag during the postmatch celebrations, provoking an angry reaction from Nice captain Didier Digard.

Floyd Ayite's second-half strike proved enough as Bastia ended a six-match winless run with a narrow 1-0 victory over Nice at the Allianz Riviera on Saturday night.

Claude Makelele's men, who suffered defeats in their previous two Ligue 1 encounters, bounced back thanks to Ayite's opportunist goal seven minutes after the break to record their second win of the season - their first away from home.

The much-needed three points means the visitors moved up three places into 16th, while it ended Nice's...

Albania captain Lorik Cana: 'Our lives were in danger' during Serbia qualifier

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti explains what's next for Serbia and Albania after Tuesday's pitch altercation.

Lorik Cana has told L'Equipe he heard cries of "Kill, kill the Albanians" during his nation's abandoned Euro 2016 qualifier with Serbia.

Cana, 31, and his teammates were forced to defend themselves before fleeing to the safety of the dressing room in Belgrade on Tuesday after Serbian fans invaded the pitch and attacked visiting players.

"There were racist and hateful chants," he said. "There were three of them. The first was: 'Kosovo is part of Serbia.' The second: 'Kill, kill the Albanians.' And...

PSG midfielder Thiago Motta satisfied with Brandao 6-month headbutt ban

Bastia's Brandao has been suspended for six months following his headbutt on Paris Saint-Germain's Thiago Motta.

Thiago Motta has told Canal+ he feels Brandao has been justly punished with a six-month ban for headbutting the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder.

Brandao, 34, will only be able to play for Bastia, for whom he signed this summer, from Feb. 22 next year after the French Football League (LFP) hit him with the half-year-long suspension after he butted Motta, 32, following PSG's 2-0 win over the Corsican club on Aug. 16.

In the immediate aftermath of the incident, PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi had called...
