Chelsea finished their pre-season tour of North America by defeating European champions Barcelona 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw over 90 minutes in Washington DC.

Luis Enrique: Barcelona's United States tour a success despite Chelsea loss

Chelsea once again were victorious on penalties as Thibaut Courtois came up with a few telling saves in the shootout.

Luis Enrique has declared Barcelona's tour the United States a success after his side's penalty defeat to Chelsea in Washington D.C. on Tuesday.

Despite going down to the Premier League champions, the manager was pleased with how Barca's preseason was progressing.

Chelsea beat Barcelona 4-2 on penalty kicks after playing to a 2-2 draw at FedEx Field in Washington, D.C. Eden Hazard opened the scoring for Chelsea with a brilliant individual effort in the 10th minute to give the Blues an early lead.

A poor clearance by Cesar Azpilicueta fell to the feet of Luis Suarez in the box, and the Uruguayan calmly chipped home over Thibaut Courtois to level the score in the 52nd minute.
