With visibility limited in muddy water, BASS pro Mike Auten stresses that repeated casts are required. "Don't just make one cast at your target and move on," he says. "Make several casts and retrieve your lure at the same slow speed and direction each time you cast. A bass must first detect the sound of your bait, determine which direction it's traveling and then move in that direction in order to find it.
