It's time for a change

Let's be clear: I am no Nostradamus.
But back in 2002, I wrote an article for ESPN.com regarding the state of USA Basketball and the steps necessary to fix the troubles it faced, as I perceived them. The problems were obvious and still exist today, as proven by USA Basketball's poor performance in the 2004 Olympic Games.
Because we, as a nation, seem to respond only to Olympic failures before we address patent problems, perhaps USA Basketball's failure to win in Athens will serve as the engine of real change. What we are doing now as a basketball community clearly isn't working. USA Basketball is broken, and it needs to be changed for the United States to remain competitive at the highest level on the international stage.
