Emerged as one of the nation's most productive and efficient passers in 2004. Is an excellent athlete with elite speed for the QB position. Is a threat to run. Has a quick set, terrific pocket presence and avoids a lot of pressure with his feet. He throws well on the run and is mechanically sound in terms of squaring his shoulders. His accuracy is elite. He has tremendous touch and timing. Shows the consistent ability to lead his receivers in stride, as well as to drop the ball in between the LB and DS. He reads the field well, is intelligent and does a great job with his progression reads. Protects the football and forces very few throws. Has ideal intangibles high character, hard working, proven winner, intelligent and excellent leadership skills. Lack of size is a major weakness. Durability would have to be a concern. His lack of height really limits him in terms of his vision and setting up inside the pocket. He would need to spend a lot of time outside of the pocket in order to be successful in the NFL ala Jake Plummer. Arm strength is adequate and better than he gets credit for but it is still not great. LeFors' father, mother and brother are all deaf. He redshirted in 2000, appeared in five games as Dave Ragone's backup in 2001 and played in only three games in 2002. His first season as a fulltime starter was in 2003, when he completed 61.3-percent of his attempts for 3,145 yards with 17 TD's and 10 INT's. LeFors led Louisville to an 11-1 record as a senior in 2004, completing 73.5-percent of his attempts for 2,596 yards with 20 TD's compared to just three INT's. Lefors' lack of size is really his only glaring weakness. Lefors shows very good footwork, impressive athleticism and good technique and accuracy when throwing on the run. His arm is also stronger than he gets credit for. In terms of work ethic, character, toughness and overall intangibles, Lefors has everything you look for in a quarterback. Lefors is still nothing more than a mid-round prospect that will need to be drafted by a team that employs a West Coast scheme (such as the Eagles and Seahawks) or for a team like the Broncos that works to get its quarterbacks outside of the pocket on a lot of play-action and bootlegs. However, with his incredible senior season and strong showing at the East-West Shrine game, Lefors' draft value is definitely on the rise.
