Overall: Thompson graduated in from high school in 1999 and he enrolled at TCU but he was unable to pass the entrance exam. He spent that season and the 2000 season out of football. Thompson enrolled at Garden City Community College in Kansas in the spring of 2001. He rushed for 380 yards on 82 carries and recorded four touchdowns that year. Thompson rushed for 1,063 yards on 159 carries and recorded twelve touchdowns in 2002. While he transferred to San Jose State in 2003, he didn't become academically eligible until the 2004 season. Thompson rushed 811 yards and five touchdowns on 151 carries last year. He also caught sixteen passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns.
