Overall: Brown played in 11 games as a true freshman in 2001. While he made his biggest contributions on special teams that year, he blocked one punt and he saw some time at linebacker. Brown sat out the 2002 season to work on his academics. He started 12 games in 2003 recording 88 tackles, 12 tackles-for-loss and three sacks. Brown only played in six games, recording 27 tackles, two tackles-for-loss and no sacks in 2004. Brown doesn't have the size or power of an every-down linebacker and he isn't effective enough in coverage at this point to move to strong safety fulltime. However, Brown has some potential to provide depth in the NFL as a nickel linebacker that also contributes in special teams. While it's unlikely that Brown gets drafted in April, he does have enough versatility and upside to be considered a "priority free agent" that is worth signing ...
