Overall: Knott was charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct stemming from an incident with a 13-year-old girl in 1999. He pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and received one year of probation. Knott began his collegiate career as a defensive end before moving to the tight end position in the spring of 2002. He is an experienced player that had 35 receptions as a sophomore in 2002 and 31 receptions as a junior in 2003, despite missing two games because of injury. As a senior in 2004, Knott had 19 receptions for 318 yards and five TD's. Knott has good size, adequate athletic ability and decent speed. Early in his career he showed a lot of promise as a future elite prospect. However, while he has been somewhat productive throughout his college career, he has never reached his full potential.
