Overall: Bergen played in every game as a backup during his true freshman and sophomore seasons of 2001 and 2002. He had a breakout season as a junior in 2003 with 70 receptions for 840 yards and six touchdowns. As a senior in 2004, Bergen had 54 receptions for 634 yards and eight TD's. Bergen is one of the better small-school prospects in the 2005 draft class. He still needs to improve his lower body strength and he doesn't have elite speed to stretch the middle of the field vertically. However, his size and short-to-intermediate pass-catching ability make him awfully intriguing as an early Day 2 prospect. He also is an intelligent, tough, competitive and consistent. He continues to improve with experience and he has enough size and speed to eventually become a consistent contributor in the NFL, most likely as a No. 2 H-back type.
