Overall: Nugent is a four-year starter who continues to improve with age and experience. He set a team record with the most field goals made in a season (25) in 2002 and he also set a record for the most made beyond 40 yards (9). Nugent made 16 of 19 field goal attempts in 2003. He connected on 24 of his 27 field goal attempts and he connected on five o his six field goal attempts beyond 50 yards on 2004. Nugent also became the first player in school history to win the Lou Groza Award, which is awarded to the nation's top collegiate kicker.

Nugent has a strong leg and his accuracy and mechanics keep getting better every season. He doesn't have elite leg strength but he's just a step down from it.
