The Lions are negotiating with DT Shaun Rogers, a second-round
pick-turned-Pro Bowler, on a contract extension. It is believed the Lions
are using the contract of DT Kris Jenkins, another second-round pick who has
been to the Pro Bowl, as a guide. Jenkins signed a five-year, $31 million
contract with a $9.175 million signing bonus. Sources say the Lions aren't
concerned that weight or durability could become issues down the road.
Word is the Niners are more than a little nervous about the neck injury
currently bothering CB Ahmed Plummer, who said last week he was "very
concerned" about his long-term outlook. There were many in the Bay Area who
questioned the team's decision to give an $11 million signing bonus this
past offseason to Plummer, who also had neck problems late last season.
