NFC West has become a wasteland
The NFC West has gone from being one of the best divisions to the worst.
The poor state of affairs goes from top to bottom. The Seattle Seahawks were a preseason Super Bowl contender, and they jumped out of the gates fast with a couple of easy-looking victories. Then, their true colors started to show when they dropped a game they had in the bag to the St. Louis Rams. Ever since that loss, this team has been a shell of its former self. They don't seem to play hard all the time and almost seem content to get coach Mike Holmgren fired by missing the playoffs. Of course, the players can't be completely blamed for the poor play because the coaching staff has made some boneheaded mistakes. Last week, for instance, they only gave RB Shaun Alexander the ball 13 times. That's an abysmal statistic for any team that seriously wants to win.
The Rams aren't that much better because they seem to keep trying to hand the division over to the 'Hawks. This team has a plethora of talent, but they don't know what to do with it. They are the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde of the division: They will play extremely well sometimes, and the next week, they'll try a dumb fake field goal. It's ridiculous and decisions like that can only hurt a team.
