NCAA investigation clouds Smith's status

One Ohio State beat writer compared Troy Smith's Feb. 21 press conference to that of Jason Giambi. In other words, there was a lot of apologizing but few specifics.
Smith, the quarterback who led the Buckeyes to a rousing upset of Michigan but was suspended from the Alamo Bowl for taking money from a booster, said he regretted his actions.
He also insisted it was the only time he had taken cash under the table.
