N.C. State has everything to play for. It needs to win its final two games to qualify for a bowl game for the fifth consecutive year under coach Chuck Amato. The 12th man should play an even bigger role than usual for Thursday night's nationally televised contest against ACC rival Florida State.
Amato's team always seem to elevate their level of play against Florida State, where he coached for 18 years. It took two overtimes for the Seminoles to finally shake the Wolfpack last season, and who can forget the historic 34-28 victory over Florida State in Tallahassee in 2001? That victory represented the Seminoles' first-ever ACC loss at home.
The Wolfpack have lost three in a row, and their failure to establish balance on offense has led to the defense wearing down. However, Amato knows how to scheme against Bobby Bowden's team. Amato also has enough talent on defense to exploit the Seminoles' mess of a quarterback situation.
