A look around the WAC
Boise State's defense has not gotten the pub they deserve, because the offense is always so dominant.
"We were on the sideline," Broncos safety Cam Hall said. "We knew they were going to be throwing. As a defensive backfield, we said why don't we see if we can keep him from getting the record."
The record is the inevitable setting of a new NCAA passing mark by Hawaii's Timmy Chang, who needed just 241 yards going into last Friday's game in Boise to pass Ty Detmer's record of 15,031. It was almost a foregone conclusion going in that Chang would get the record, no matter what the score. Only twice in a game he started had Chang not passed for 241 yards.
But he passed for just 227 yards and was intercepted four times, which did give him the NCAA record for career interceptions with 74.
Chang still needs 15 yards, which at least he will now get at home against Louisiana Tech.
