Even coach Dennis Franchione is surprised by his team's 5-1 start after going 4-8 last season and opening with a blowout loss at Utah. "Even after the Utah game, none of us could have foreseen that we would come together and improve like we have and played the way that we have," he said. "You look at the schedule back in August, it looked pretty daunting."Quarterback Reggie McNeal is 15th nationally in pass efficiency with seven touchdown passes and zero interceptions. A&M is the only team in Division I-A that hasn't thrown an interception this season.
