A good boxer is a patient boxer. He jabs, bobs, weaves and waits for the perfect moment to strike.

Led by former Golden Gloves champ-turned SS Tom Zbikowski, Notre Dame's defense is simply battering its opponents with forced fumbles and interceptions. In the first three games the Fighting Irish have exploited almost every opportunity, forcing 11 turnovers.

That doggedness has paid dividends on the scoreboard, and nearly half of Notre Dame's scoring production (38 points) has resulted from turnovers. Last Saturday the Irish overcame special teams breakdowns and unsteady periods of offense to beat Michigan State 31-24 in East Lansing.
