Texas Tech
The Red Raiders' 70-35 come-from-behind victory over TCU was the breakout win coach Mike Leach had been waiting for. Tech trailed 21-0 before reeling off 56 unanswered points. Considering Tech's PlayStation offense is breaking in a new quarterback and four new receivers, this is the kind of outing that will give the newcomers tremendous confidence. Defensive coordinators will struggle to sleep after watching this game film.

  • The Tech defense held TCU to 316 yards of offense, 227 below the Horned Frogs' average, and most of the yards came after the game was decided -- a big step forward for one of the worst defenses in the country last year.

  • Tech will play four of its first five games on the road this season for the first time since 1955. The Red Raiders, who played at SMU and at New Mexico before facing TCU at home, will play at Kansas on Saturday and at Oklahoma on Oct. 2.
