The season can't come soon enough for the legion of die-hard Oklahoma fans commonly known as the Sooner Nation.

All but five starters return off a team that spent 15 weeks at No. 1 in the polls, prompting many to suggest that Bob Stoops' squad was the best college football team ever assembled.

If not, the 2003 Sooners were certainly the most decorated, at least in terms of individual awards. The team had a record-setting seven All-Americans and produced seven national award winners (Heisman, Bednarik, Butkus, Lombardi, Nagurski, O'Brien and Thorpe). Stoops was also selected the national coach of the year by the Bobby Dodd Foundation, the Columbus Touchdown Club and the Walter Camp Foundation.
