COACH AND PROGRAM

In November of 2000, Bobby Ross resigned as head coach of the Detroit Lions and sampled a life of retirement in Lexington, Va.

He did volunteer work. He relaxed with his wife. He strolled the sidewalks and walked his dog.

Was he content? Perhaps, but there wasn't a time during his hiatus that Ross didn't have an itch to get back into coaching.

It seemed a perfect fit last December when Army called on Ross to resurrect its once-proud program.

Ross was no longer content looking back on successes.
