COACH AND PROGRAM

Nevada hopes a heavy dose of nostalgia can turn a promising program into a potent one.

Chris Ault, who coached the Pack from 1976 to 1992 and from 1994 to 1995, left his athletic director job to replace Chris Tormey, who improved in the win column each of the last three seasons, but not quickly enough to satisfy his bosses.

Ault is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. He's 163-63-1 in 19 years with the Wolf Pack.

Cary Groth replaced him as athletic director.
