COACH AND PROGRAM

One game. One quarter, actually. That's what many Minnesota fans believe separated their Golden Gophers from their first trip to the Rose Bowl since 1961. One sloppy quarter that dealt Minnesota a crucial loss and sent Glen Mason's troops into a temporary tailspin that cost them dearly.

On Oct. 10, 2003 the Gophers played host to Michigan, and the Minnesota faithful believed they had a shot at their first home victory against the mighty Wolverines in 26 years. The Gophers were 6-0 and ranked No. 13 in the nation at the time, while No. 19 Michigan was facing uncharacteristic struggles to get its season on track.
