The Golden Hurricane (5-4 overall, 3-2 WAC) continues to take large steps
forward under first-year coach Steve Kragthorpe. The latest: A 56-28 victory
at Texas-El Paso, breaking Tulsa's 17-game road losing streak.
"You know, we'll make all the observations about the program (improving) at the end of the year," said Kragthorpe. "We still have tough games remaining that we have to prepare for in order to put ourselves in position to be successful."
Junior quarterback James Kilian is the league's offensive Player of the Week after rushing for three TDs and throwing for two more. "It's a great honor for him, for our entire team," said Kragthorpe. "James definitely did a good job creating some opportunities for us. He is playing very good football for us right now."
